ATI Driver stopped responding New install

I have just reinstalled windows 7 on my system a clean install reformatted Drives all hardware was running fine but now I keep getting a “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” warning pop up, all the same hardware just added a SSD when this started I remove it and started to reinstall win 7 again, still have the same problem, order of install WIN7-64bit, then motherboard, ati orginal disk drivers tried updating win 7 but keeps crashing so then install WIN7-64bit, then motherboard then the updates which add my video driver via win update problem back removed it then finish the updates for win7 install then ati latest drive which I was running prior to reformat still freeze and or a black screen then it works again for a few minutes.

I just want to add a SSD the system was stable NEVER had a problem just want to clean it all out and add a drive all update were done.

Has anyone got a fix,This is my first post ever so any help.

Hey Michael Collins, Welcome to SF.

First of all, remove all the drivers of your graphic card (GPU). After removing all the drivers run this small software, Guru3D - Driver Sweeper. This small app will remove the bits of drivers installed in your hard drive. Go to AMD site and download the latest drivers from their (or you can download from Sevenforums as well). Install the latest drivers. As per my suggestion do not let Windows install update for your GPU. As, this can cause clashes between drivers from ATI and Windows and may cause crashes and BSODs.

If this resolved your issue, well and good. If not, check for dust on your GPU and processor.

P.S Do all the above steps without your SSD. After all is done, then install it.

Keep us posted.

Windows10 Pro - 64Bit vs.10547

- can you give some info regarding the steps you took when installing the SSD..
- what is the storage capacity of the drive, and did you set it up as the primary C: drive?
- do you have the Microsoft OS Installation disks?
