My Computer wont detect my gpu

My computer will not detect my gpu (gigabyte nvidia gt630 2gb ddr3) I do not know what to do. I've changed my power supply tried downloading drivers from nvidia.com instead of the disc, Can anyone help? When I try to install the driver it says" the graphics driver could not find compatible graphicx hardware"

Are the fans spinning on the card when you power up?

I would remove all traces of previous gpu drivers. Power down then reset the gpu card, make sure it's seated in the slot. Boot up and you may see the "new hardware" message so you can then install the supplied drivers.

And, don't just check that the card is seated. Be sure that there are no other power ports elsewhere on the card that are required. I'm sure you have read the manual, so I won't insult you, but REread that thing and make sure.

On another note, if a graphics card won't work, how do you see the error message? Not trying to be a smartass, but I can't help but imagine something like: "I can't hear you." "Excuse me?" "I said, I can't hear you."

Come on guys, you should know that without the oem driver it reverts to a standard vga MS driver. As far as I know there are no gt630's with extra power connector points, powered by the slot only.

Have you checked the BIOS to see if it is booting from PCI-E even though the system should have automatically booted from that slot it could still be booting from the onboard video.

OP hasn't replied in 4 days, probably solved.

Further info or a follow up by OP is desirable.

Was this a fresh install of the 630?
