Sorry mate it has been a long thread and that had slipped my mind.
![]() Tye drivers I mentioned purely because it is just an elimination thing that I do myself but things are not looking good if you cannot get the BIOS. Have you done any updates on it lately because it is not out of the realms of possibility that it has been wrecked by an update. |

Didn't work. I plugged the new PSU into the motherboard as well as the black and brown cabled plug. I plugged in the PSU and it turned on(I didn't press the power button). The power button flasher yellow(hasn't done that before) and nothing showed up on the display.
I unplugged it from the motherboard and plugged it back in. This time it turned on and the power button flashed yellow and turned white. Still no display. I plugged in the memory and the power and data cables for the HD. I turned it on and the HD spun, but still no display. I turned it off and back on several times and now it shows solid yellow again. I took out the battery and put it back in as well as making sure all the connections were tight. I don't know what else to do. This computer is not even old. I treat it well and I have never physically damaged it. I appreciate the time and effort that you took to troubleshoot the issue. As with a different power supply as well system is unable to turn on completely it seems to be an issue with the motherboard. Also, system sometimes giving steady yellow, blinking yellow and white this also indicated it would be the motherboard failure on the system. However, please remind if with this system is working with inbuilt or add in PCI graphic card. If its PCI then remove the graphic card and check the system on integrated one. And if its the integrated check if you can arrange a PCI one to isolate the issue on the system. Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further. |

Personally Sandeep I think you are right in thinking it is a mobo issue I am sure I read somewhere just recently and I think it was in Scott Mueller's PC Repair book you can get PCI cards that test the board by flashing up numeric codes on them - but am not going to bet my house on it.
I will have a look tomorrow as it is quite late here now. |

I will have a look tomorrow as it is quite late here now. Yes I have also seen this tester on some of the videos. Where you can connect the PCI card and if the system doesn't initialize or complete the POST it would show the part which might be causing this issue. As different flash codes are coming on power led it should be the motherboard on the system. Lets see where we go from this. |

Sorry for the delayed reply.
The pci post tester cards look promising. I will see if I can find a cheep one that will ship relatively soon. (a google shopping search didn't return any results from local stores.) It is integrated graphics and I don't have a graphics card I could add. So if it is a mobo problem, would I have to get a new processor as well? If so, I'm leaning toward amd as it, from what I understand, is cheeper and deals better with video and graphics. (This is what it is mainly used for.) Would an amd mobo work with my case? |

Here is one of those testers on eBay from China. But it takes 2 to 3 weeks for shipping, but the prices are cheap!

Yep here is a short clip of one being used unfortunately the film maker doesn't comment but you will see the idea behind it. The booklet will tell you what the codes mean both audio and the numerical readout.

Yes thats the video I checked sometime ago. This works exactly like we used to have diagnostic indicator light on old dell systems. Combination of lights would indicate the possible part failure. Lets see once OP responds as this one seems to be the motherboard failure. |
