Where to get driver for Radeon 4300/4500 cards

I'm confused. I have a driver for my Radeon 4350 card dated 4/19/2011. I've seen an number of download sites with significantly more recent drivers, but the AMD download site isn't one of them. They don't seem to even acknowledge that the the 4350 drivers exists. I think that means I turn to brand-x web sites, but I have no idea which are reputable. Hear are some I found:

    • driverscollection.com
    • siliconguide.com
    • amd-drivers.com
    • drivermax.com
    • radarsync.com
    • pcpitstop.com

There are others, too. Many have "current" drivers older than the one I already have. I'm obviously going to skip those. But are any of those good sources for drivers? Any other sites I should look at?

    Try here:
    AMD Drivers
    Current date is 9/18/2013

Always download drivers from the manufacturer. Drivers are created by the manufacturer so they will have the most recent version. Ultimately that is where the other sites get them.

Drivers for an OEM computer should come from the OEM.

I tried. Their web site's wizard doesn't include an option for the 4300/4500 series (that I could find) other than the very general categories "Auto Detect and Install" and "Not Sure". I downloaded their Auto Detect and Install utility. It detected the right card and operating system, but could not connected to their server.

This does not give me a lot of confidence.

You can try the following link: Download

It will eventually take you to the same page as the other link, so if this does not work, don't know what else to suggest.

That's the link that got me to the Auto Detect and Install utility. That utility did mention the name of the file it was unable to download. I found that file on another AMD web site and downloaded it, but I'm reluctant to install it. It apparently contains the driver I want, but also contains a whole bunch of other stuff called the AMD Catalyst which I don't want.

    Radeon driver

you could always uninstall just the Catalyst software and keep the drivers. This is what I've done in the past.

Looks like 12.4 was the last one to support that card.

All cards from the HD 4xxx series and down (HD 3xxx and HD 2xxx) have been declared legacy status, and as such ther eis no support for them in the current Catalyst Suite. What you need are the legacy drivers,

To the OP: Just so you know, I have an AMD 4290 and the latest drivers I was able to get to work were Catalyst 13.1.

So, if the 13.9 drivers in the legacy link don't work, try the 13.1 drivers -- they should work.
