    Graphic Card Compatible?

Hi, I've been trying to find out everywhere to see if my graphics card is capable of Windows 7. I'm having a real hard time. My card is Intel 945 Mobile Family.

My brother installed Windows 7 and his card was outdated so now everything is "blurry" and not nice looking. He couldn't downgrade so he bought a Mac. So yeah, I'd try it out on my computer if I could fork out 1k to get a new computer, but I simply can't.

The windows update advisor says that my graphics adapter isn't "supported" with Windows Aero. The requirements state that it needs 128MB, which I believe I have 256.

It's getting annoying that the Windows Advisor says that it's not supported, yet Best Buy is selling my same exact computer with Windows 7 with the same graphics card. I'm conflicted; I don't want to mess up my computer, yet I want Windows 7.

Thank you for the quick reply. So if I were to install Windows 7, everything would be fine as long as I download the driver? I'm kind of a nub when it comes to computers. Everything is good in terms of my specs.

Install Windows. Then run either the x86 or x64 version by double clicking on it after you download. Get the version that is the same as the version of Win 7 that you install. You're welcome. I don't forsee any problems at all with this.

I'm running 32 bit, so it would be x86. It says it was written for the desktop, so is it ok if I have a laptop?

Yes, it's correct. They're a little confusing by saying that, I know. The page also says it's for GM version of 945 too. M stands for mobile. So you should be good.

Good luck. Yeah, I think they intend the term "desktop" as the screen itself. You know, like Aero interface. I don't think they mean a desktop computer, specifically.

You'll really enjoy Win 7 and upgrade will be worth it.

Yep. After using XP for what seems forever, it will be a nice change.

Hi, I downloaded Windows 7 and it's working OK. Not great. I can now longer use my volume controls or anything. Also, a driver was not installed. It says Error 28, but I'll figure that out later.

I believe everything is fine with the OS. I don't think I need to get the driver since my graphics are fine. So, I think this is resolved. Thanks.
