Time to upgrade Single 256mb nVidia GeForce 7900GS (2VDI 1xS-video) ?

Via a custom install per the relative Tutorial I've just moved my 2007 Dell Dimension 9200 Vista Home Premium 32bit set-up to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

My WPI is now 5.6 - which is the Graphics and Gaming element, with all other elements 5.9.

I assume it may be time to upgrade my Graphics, and if that is so I am not sure what would be appropriate for my system and needs.

I would like to stay with nVidia, am not interested in 3D, and would ultimately like to have a 3 screen set up although am content with a single screen at the moment. Presumably I could do the switching installation myself with a little commonsense and care.

I have enjoyed gaming for decades (Rpg's...Dead Space, Mass Effect, Deus Ex, Skyrim, Tomb Raider etc.,) and am presently contemplating Flight Simulator X.

I am thinking of upping my present Ram from 4 to 8G if I can but am checking this in the Performance and Maintenance Forum.

Something like the GTX650 would be perfect but your dated processor will bottleneck gaming performance with any higher end graphics card.

It would be wiser to invest in a new modern system if you're willing to do some hardcore gaming.

It's beginning to look as though I should treat my recent successful attempt at installation of Windows 7 - via the most helpful Tutorials here :) - as a learning curve, and seriously consider perhaps building my own new machine, which seems like a good value for money approach.

Regarding RAM, maximum memory supported on this system by us is 4 GB. So if you upgrade the RAM there are chances it might not work. For buying accessories or anything for your system you can check the link below:

Actually the maximum RAM supported by the specific Intel chipset in this PC is 8GB, I see no logical reason why 4x2GB modules wouldn't work. The 4GB specified by Dell is purely an artificial limit, what's relevant here is the Intel specification, not Dell's.
