HD 5450 is powerful than the Intel HD 2500. HD 5450 is only comparable to Intel HD 4000, 4400, 4600, and Intel Iris Pro HD 5200.

Intel on-board video is in general going to be much worse than any mediocre video card.

If looking to upgrade, the power supply in the system and video card slot type is going to be the limiting factors.

Assuming a PCI Express slot that is compatible, this is a current class low-end/low profile (low power requirements) example card available now:

Newegg.com - ASUS R7240-2GD3-L Radeon R7 240 2GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card

Intel understands that and try looking deeper. Intel HD 4000 Series will make an awesome APU if only their drivers are made for gaming.
