    Monitor Puzzle

Re: 7 o/s. During running of a system test, a pop-up appeared saying the following; Current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Change input timing to 1600x900 60Hz. Because I was stuck and it wouldn't go any further, no matter what buttons I pushed on my monitor, I shut it down manually. First thing I did was to check the settings and saw that it was already set o 1600x900 which is recommended. Where do we go from here?

You say "During running of a system test", specifically which test? You also say "First thing I did was to check the settings and saw that it was already set o 1600x900 which is recommended". You rebooted and got the same popup, but are able to use the PC?

    Try this:

Right click an empty spot on desktop> Screen resolution> Advance settings> Monitor tab> Make sure Hide modes that this monitor cannot display is checked> Screen refresh rate> Make sure it is set to 60Hz (59Hz is also OK)

If no help, a System Restore point from before running this "system test" may well fix the issue.
