Is running a GTX760 4gbvideoram at 71C safe?

Hello Seven-forums, i am wondering if running a GTX760 at 71C for long periods of time is safe? I just want to make sure. I am mining something similar to bit coin if your wondering why.

Hello Jemjem, yes that is totally fine, I believe that is just around the first throttle point of the 700 series. If it gets any hotter it will just throttle the GPU back a little to keep the temps down.

Perfectly fine temp under load though.

You can go as high as 80C. I don't know what mining software you are using but most have a default gpu target temp of 80C. If you are using cgminer or bfgminer you can set target temps in the config file. Are you mining ltc's? I keep a pair of 7950's crunching ltc's 24/7 and these run at 70-72C with the vrm's about 5-6C higher, this is with a target temp of 70C set in cgminer.

I am investing in a new coin that is going to explode in a few months (I'm pre-mining it) And its almost guaranteed to rise in price. I am using Cudaminer and mining around 260kh/s. Mind telling me what Pool you use for Ltc's? I was planning to mine them with a rig that i'm currently setting up but i don't trust a pool without a trustworthy source.

Yes it should be totally fine shouldn't worry unless it's getting those temps while idle, those temps are pretty normal when under heavy stress. I don't believe anything will happen to it if you run it a couple hours like that.

I use litecoinpool.org and btcguild as primary pools, and MTGox as my exchange. You want to have 2 or 3 pools setup as a fail back source. You will see dns attacks on occasions and the pool goes down for a period of time. Good mining software should see this and switch pools automatically. Bitcointalk has a lot of threads on alt coins and altcoin pools.

I'm at 1.0-1.2ghs on the litecoins and 54ghs on btc's. It would be nice if my sha256 miners would mine ltc's.

CP is totally correct on the 95C thermal threshold but for 24/7 mining you want to stay will below that number. I set a 70C target temp and environmental variables cause the operating temps to reach as high as 80C on occasions. I have it set to shut down at 85C, remember the vrm's run several degrees higher than the gpu.
