    What's a Generic PnP Monitor?

Hello, I recently purchased a new PC which I'm positive can run two monitors simultaneously.
I currently have a monitor connected via DVI and a monitor connected via HMDI, they both are working but it shows the same screen on both monitors. I've tried to change the resolution on my monitors to have it extend seamlessly from the first monitor to the next, but it's only coming up with one monitor selection, and it is named 'generic pvp monitor on standard vga graphics adapter'. Every time I try to change the resolution on one screen it does it for both.

Any ideas on how I should proceed to get both monitors working the way I want?

    My computer specs are -

AMD A8 6600K 3.90 GHz Quad Core Processor
    Radeon HD 8570D Graphics
    8GB RAM

Do I just need to download some drivers or?

    Hi,
Ideally you would use dvi connections on each monitor,
Using a hdmi will give you a higher resolution automatically because of the higher quality of the connection,
Or at least that is my understanding ?
    Cheers.

Well, you should already have the latest drivers installed for the video card, then you simply choose extend these displays.

right click the desktop, choose screen resolution, multiple displays, extend these displays.

Also, open device manager and post a screenshot with display adapters fully expanded.

Are you using the AMD Vision Engine control center for multi monitors? That would be the prefered software for the Radeon HD 8570D.

Press the Windows key and the P key. Then select "Extend" from the list and see if that gets you what you want. If extend is unavailable you may have to switch one of the monitors to a different port. On some video cards the HDMI port can be shared with a DVI port. It's just the one port wired out to two plugs. It saves you from having to have an HDMI to DVI adapter. When it says Generic PNP monitor that means Windows didn't ID your monitor fully. I have two I-Inc monitors that show up like that, they still work just fine. You may have to set the native resolution manually (I didn't) but other than that they should work fine. My main LG monitor was listed like that too, but now shows the correct model number after installing the driver from the CD that came with it. I could not find a driver for my I-Inc monitors but they are working fine so I don't sweat it.
