GTX 660 not being recognized in x16 slot only in x8

    Hey Guys,

This is the follow up thread to my previous post here where I identified my graphics card was not working in the x16 slot, only in the x8 slot. I tired different methods to troubleshoot but nothing seemed to work so I basically gave up.

Thorsen had advised I purchase a Motherboard PCI-E PCI Express 16X Slot Test Card Tester which I finally did but unfortunately it did not come with a manual or any guide as to intrepret the lights being shown. So here I am now asking if any can provide some insight as to what the card lights are telling me or any other help as to determine why my card is not working in the proper x16 slot. It works well in the x8 slot in terms of games etc I haven't had any problems so far but I still would like it to be in the x16 slot.

Here are my items for reference :

Attached are pictures of the lights being shown. Any other information needed please let me know and thank you guys

    Regards

According to Asus, both the top 2 pci express slots are x16 it`s only when you have a card in both #1 and #2 slots that they are x8, so a card in slot# 2 should be running at x16.

    https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8...specifications

I have a gadget on my desktop that tells me what my card is running at.

Lord knows where I got it but it says by Orbmu2k

And some others like nvidia inspector should tell you what speed it`s running in.

Have you ever tried to rma the board to Asus ?

The board is past the warranty now I believe and I never tried to RMA before. I tried the gadget but it didn't show the interface, the inspector gave the following results. I'm guessing it says its running at x8?

I thought maybe it had a lifetime warranty LOL

Yes it looks like it`s running at x8 speed.

I would say to start saving for a new board.

From looking at the link for the lane tester all the lights should light up. I read through the older thread and still have no other suggestion ther that what has already been linked.
