Keep getting errors with NVIDIA driver new version

Since I keep getting driver failure errors with the old NVIDIA driver I decided to get he latest one.

This is the one released on 3/4/ 14 version 9.18.13.3523

This one does the same thing as the last one except more often! I get a black screen and a message saying "the drive failed but recovered" after that it seems to work fine.

Aside from reverting back to the old one, anyone have any thoughts as to how to cure it?

The card is a NVIDIA 8800GTS OS is 7 64

    Thanks to all in advance!

    Hey Tinsby,

When you say that you installed latest drivers and then rolled back to old ones. Did you uninstall the old drivers first and then installed new ones?

If not, get DriverSweeper first. Uninstall the drivers and run the sweeper. This will remove the left overs of the old drivers. After this, install the drivers now. It will be like fresh install of the drivers.

Keep a track of the GPU temps with MSI Afterburner. Clean out any dust from the GPU. How many RAM sticks are you using? As per your system specs it is 6 Gigs. Is it 2*3? If yes, remove one Dimm and then run the PC (after installing the drivers off course ).

    Keep us posted.

    Hi Archer,

I got it sorted and it's working fine, took your advice and removed all the NVIDIA drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller, formerly Drive Sweeper.
Working fine now, touch wood! No errors on restart from hibernation.

    Thanks,

    Archer,

Sorry to say that on wake up from hibernate I got the same error as before. Thought it was OK but here we go again <sigh>

I'll try and keep you posted it's annoying as hell to say the least. Hadn't done it since I last posted but it's still here.

    regards,

Hey, sorry for late reply. Did you check the temperature of the GPU? You can use MSI Afterburner (not beta version).

Also, you never replied how many RAM sticks do you have? If you have multiple sticks, remove one and run the PC on just one stick and check.
