    Strange line appears on screen

    Hi everyone,

I've this Acer laptop and since sometime, a red-dotted line appeared on screen.
The screen didn't get hit, and also the line disappears when I shut the laptop and it doesn't appear when I press Print Screen (to take a screenshot), so I assumed it's a graphic card problem.

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums ... This could be caused by a connection problem a fault in the display cable or in the inverter ... And as you have stated could well be a fault in the on-board graphics card ... No easy fix how old is the Laptop ?

My Laptop is Acer Aspire E1-531, and It's two years old.

    How can I check that?

Its not very old .. You would need to get some one to look at it for you .. If it is the Graphics card think it would be better to get a new Laptop as it would just be to expensive to get that replaced ..

Try taking a screenshot and post it here. Screenshot with Paint Remember to save as PNG so it is the highest quality without compression. If the line is in the screenshot, it is a GPU problem. If it is not, it is a screen connection problem.

Yep it is a screen problem. If it is under warranty, you can send it back. If not, you will need to get a replacement.

It may be pricey so it is more worth it to buy a new one.
