No Aero Support on ATI mobility radeon 9800

I just Installed windows 7 ultimate, but cannot use the Aero Effects because my graphics card is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9800. I need a driver that can let me enable the aero effects. I believe it needs to have the WDDM or something like that. My graaphics card has no updated drivers like that so i think that i need a modded driver. Someone please help me. I want the Aero Effects.

Well, it should be able to. I used to have 9800 AIW Pro which is a desktop model and it had Aero.

Let me check on things and see if I can advise a possible solution. I'll probably need the hardware id of the graphics adapter. Right click on it in device manager, properties, details tab, change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste what is there.

Also, I'm unable to locate your exact model on Dell's website. Are you sure it's correct in your specs?

And yes, I have a dell inspiron xps desktop replacement laptop. The dell service tag is Dell Inc. Inspiron XPS
System Service Tag: 2GGTZ61 (support for this PC)
    Chassis Serial Number: 2GGTZ61

    I'd imagine this should work.

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

    from here:

ATI Radeon Catalyst Modded Driver For Mobile Cards

The first link includes "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800" = ati2mtag_M18, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4A4E

That's a thumbs up. If it doesn't want to install because it says operating system not supported, or similar, use device manager to install by pointing to .inf.

Right click card, update driver, browse, let me pick, have disk, browse.

So i Installed the file that you told me to with the modded drivers and stuff. I ran setup and everything went good, but i dont think that it updated my driver because I still get no Aero support and when I check my driver details in the control manager it shows that im still running the same old display driver as before. Where is this .inf file that your talking about? I cant find exactly where its located.

Nope. It didn't install your driver because you have to follow my method.

I don't have the driver available here. What you could do to find the .inf is go to the folder you extracted. In the top right of Windows Explorer, there's a search box.

Put *.inf in it. It will find it/them for you. Usually you want nv_disp.inf

Then you know where it is when you have to install by device manager, using instructions I previously gave.
