New graphic card affecting overclock
Just swapped my old Radeon HD5770 for a Gigabyte GTX750 Ti on the 4.6GHz o/c 2600K system in my specs. Wouldn't boot with new card (went into a 5 sec on/off loop). It's a good psu (Coolermaster GX750).Things I've tried:
Reset BIOS to defaults (no o/c) and it booted.
Mobo has an OC Genie button that boosts clock speed to 4.2GHz. Booted on that setting but got a BSOD.
Flashed the BIOS from within Windows using MSI app and seems stable @ OC Genie settings, for now.
Updating the BIOS didn't wipe the saved o/c profiles (thought it would) so tried the original Aria 4.6GHz config - back to 5 sec on/off looping.
I'm a bit puzzled as to why a new gfx card would affect the o/c. This is my main machine and amongst other things is the server that drives all the other pc's in my little render farm, so needs to be stable.
I don't really want to revert to stock speed. After several years @ 4.6GHz, regular speed seems v slow as does the midway OC Genie setting.
Any ideas on this new gfx card/overclocking conundrum ?
edit - I uninstalled the drivers for the old card first using Driversweeper, and got the latest Nvidia drivers from the website.
