    Gs 7900?

    Hi,

My old Dell XPS 1710 Video card which is Nvidia 256 MB 7900 GS has fried.

What are my options, to buy a used one (cause they longer manufacture brand new) online, 7900 GS or 7950 GTX 512 MB, but GTX consumes double power and shall heat and fry again.

Price wise both are the same.

Any other option to solder an ATI chip on this card?

Hoping to hear from you experts,

    Thanks.

I'd just go with any 8800 GTX plus it has a DirectX 10 feature. Check its price though, I'm no price expert

    Thanks for your replies.

I got a Brand new one but it is 7950T GTX 512 MB from ebay for 100 bucks....... sellers says its better than 7900 GS, works great on 1710 better performance, stable cooler.

He has 7900 GS 256 MB but those are all used, not new?

    Hoping to hear your thoughts.

    His comments:

In OS, it shows GO 7950 GTX, in fact, GPU chip is GO 7950T GTX. You can check the chip surface printing. GO 7950T GTX is strengthening stable version, it is more superior and stable than GO 7950GTX.
