    Gtx 780

    What's up,

So I've been looking into a 780, and was wondering If now that the 900 series are coming out on Sept 16 I believe, if the 700 series r going to get a price drop?

They will drop when the new series hits. Hold out just a little longer.

I don't know why did skip making 800 series to desktops, perhaps they want it to be exclusive for laptops?

yea thats what i was hoping. they had a price drop already. $520 to $480, but id figured that it will drop again too. if the new 980 is the same price as the current 780's, i might just shoot for that. i can wait till Sept. they skipped the 800 series because they wanted to keep the laptop and desktops uniform. on laptops, they already have 800 series, but they are kepler architecture which is the same as the 700 series. every other generation is a refresh of the same architecture.

They like to change the # sign so they can change the $ sign.

lol both do that. and TBH, they have to. if they spend billions on creating a new architecture, they have to make that money back somehow. offering a lower price woulnt allow for much revenue for their next generation. this is why AMD is falling. sorta.

AMD prices are falling because Bitcoin mining is becoming less popular. Since AMD cards were deemed "better" at mining, greedy retailers jacked the prices through the roof to capitalize on the trend. Now that things are slowing down, prices are dropping to more realistic (read: "sensible") levels.

Supposedly the new 800 900 cards are supposed to be cheaper that the 700's. Or, so I read, but at this point, everything is mostly speculation.

Please don't think I begrudge the companies making a profit.
If they don't make a profit we don't get products we want.

Sometimes they relabel something with very little change to improve the product and call it a new and improve model. To get me off of a $400.00 card and go to a $600.00 card I expect to see some leaps and bounds in improvements for the extra money.
