Does inserting a graphic card AUTOMATICALLY disables GPU core handlin?

As you know Intel core i* CPUs contains a full graphic GPU which allows driving a monitor without additional graphic card hardware.

But what if I explicitely want to use an additional graphic card (e.g. because it is faster or can handle higher resolutions like 4K).

Does core i* CPU resp. the motherboard AUTOMATICALLY detect the new graphic card and disables its own built-in default graphic GPU?

Or do I have to manually enable resp switch to graphic card somehwere in BIOS or in Windows 7?

Normally on Desktop computers, when the BIOS detects a card installed in a PCIE X16 slot and will disable on board graphics. As with anything else, there are exceptions. But, normally, that's what happens.
