Right click card, update driver software, browse, let me pick, have disk, browse.

Click on the .inf. Hit ok.
Yep - that's what I'm doing. File in question is CH_77160.inf and the response is as i mentioned above...

"The folder you specified doesn't contain a suitable s/w driver for your device"

    Weird??

Alright. I'm downloading now. I'll look and advise. In meantime, right click card in device manager.

Properties, details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here.

Do for both if you have 2 video adapters listed in display adapters.

This line is already in the CH_77160.inf.

    "ATI FireGL V3350" = ati2mtag_RV515GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7153

That means by clicking on the inf during the process I described, it will definitely install. 100% chance.

Review the thread. You did something slightly wrong somewhere.

    Good luck.

Not necessary at all but you could add this to the line in the .inf to try as well (don't put any spaces....save .inf after edit.)

    &SUBSYS_1B021002

    so make it

    "ATI FireGL V3350" = ati2mtag_RV515GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7153&SUBSYS_1B021002

When it says "folder you specified..."

    That's incorrect part.

You don't choose folder. You click on the actual .inf in the navigation pane. It is impossible for error to show then.

Use the original unedited .inf for success. Edited should work too.

I made that addition to the inf but still no luck so I captured what I was doing as a video...

Wow, great idea for the video.

I see what's happening and in this case, I'd have to say it's something to do with the Fire line of adapters being different and not having correct .inf version in package. Try the edit I said with the latest Catalyst driver for any typical desktop card....tell the website you want driver for 48xx card Win7.

Then edit the C7 or CL file. CH is bad.

    That's the reason.

Reason I swore you were doing something wrong is because I helped many people do this. And that's the part they ALWAYS mess up. lol

    Try adding this line:

    "ATI FireGL V3350" = ati2mtag_R600, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7153

in section where all others are. You could also try changing the R600 part to something that matches other cards.

    Good luck!

I'm using an NVidia GeForce 9800 GT and I am happy with it.
