Faithful, if the link on first page didn't help, it's most likely a hardware failure. Video adapter might be on its way out.

Since that's the reason I posted, chances are good. If you are using ATI adapter, chances are 100%.

See post #21 above.

Open device manager. Right click on the specific display adapter you're using. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paster here. I want to make sure I know exactly which device it is.

Morning Torrentg, Dell's support site is not very helpful as far as video support. The last update for this particular model is over a year old.
I'll paste up a link for you to see. As far as I can see its for vista, as Faithful said vista had worked well for her. Here is the link:

So has anything worked out for anybody? I have updated my drivers, checked my BIOS, tried reducing resolution, and rebooted the computer many times...The visual glitches (usually horizontal lines at the top of my web browser) are still present. It's very annoying and I've never had a problem on vista.

Also, I've noticed, since installing windows 7, a lot of times when I am typing, random windows like the history search, or another folder will open... When I just typed "another", the history bar opened. I think there's some new setting in Windows 7 that acts as shortcut, but its unintentionally opening different windows, has anyone else experienced this problem...Its almostas if windows 7 thinks my CTL key is pressed down...because when I type "I" sometimes it italicizes it, or when I hit "h" it opens my history...Is this a windows 7 problem, because I never had it with Vista?

If you are 32 bit = Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista * 32 (exe)

If you are 64 bit = Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista* 64 (exe)

If you need to install using device manager because running .exe doesn't help - do this:

Right click same video adapter as before in device manager. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf in the folder that was extracted and click or double click on it. Hit ok and let it install.

well I'm about to install intel graphics media accelerator, but it says that it's older than the drivers that are currently installed on my laptop. Do I install anyways?
