    just noticed this.. PCIe is set to Gen3 x16 width in BIOS, not sure what the issue is

    I don't think that is a problem, I think it is that your CPU supports Gen 3. It's backward compatible with Gen 2.

    I was talking more about the link width, not so much the PCIe generation
