Windows 7: GTX 770 crashes.

GTX 770 crashes.

Just upgraded from my 660ti to ASUS GTX 770 4GB. It crashes during games, i.e. after every game of cod or Bf4 it will crash. Randomly during League of legends it will crash. The screen will go black or flash multi colours or say DVI no signal. Sometimes the music will still be playing in the background but keyboard commands don't affect the system. Sometimes the sound will also crash and leave a load buzzing.

I've tried a clean install of drivers. I've uninstalled the 3D driver and tried uninstalling the realtek audio driver.

I've returned the product to the company for testing and they stated the card was fully functioning and then sent it back.

The gpu temperatures seem to be fine. If I perform a gpu stress test for a few minutes it will eventually reach 80degrees.

I've tried different DVI and HDMI cables, tried both PCI-E slots, ran various scans to check my system.

I'm running an i7-4770 with 8gb of ram. I've tried 3 PSUs the one I'm currently using is 850W. Hard drive is a new Crucial 500gb SSD.

I need ideas as to what the problem might be

Try reinstalling your drivers using this tutorial NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

Also, why did you uninstall your Motherboard audio drivers? What you need is those drivers and not the Nvidia audio drivers. The Nvidia audio/HDMI drivers are not needed and can conflict with Realtek audio drivers. Try using the utility I am sure comes with your card. Set a custom fan profile to increase the fans tokeep the heat lower. Use the on screen display, which I am sure is included, to show you the info you want during gaming. GPU temp, framerates, GPU clock and such as that. It will help you to see what is going on when you have a crash.

I`d return it and go EVGA, mine have been perfect from day one :)

Thanks for your posts.

I tried the method you provided of reinstalling the drivers. No change. During gameplay the gpu temp is a steady 50-55 degrees.

It crashes at certain moments guaranteed, for example once a game of Call of duty AW has ended; the change of interface at the rank-up screen always causes a crash, similar with BF4. I then have to turn the computer off and leave it off for a few seconds before restarting, otherwise it will again crash during windows startup and say incorrect cable etc. Even then it will crash just by browsing the web if I don't leave it for long enough. Yet my system temperatures seem fine.

It rarely crashes during the actually gameplay of cod but will crash during the gameplay of other games after awhile of playing.

I'm stumped but as the card has apparently been diagnosed and fully functioning I hope when they release a new driver it will fix the issue..

Since you didn't specify, I will assume that the temp is in Celsius. That's a high temp, and I would address air flow and cooling. In my experience, anything over 70 is asking for failure.

If that temp is in Fahrenheit, I WANT YOUR GPU COOLER!!! LOLOL

I did seem a bit strange that it got that high in the stress test, but during gameplay I haven't noticed it get as high as even 60 celcius. And when I sent it back it was tested and returned as working fine..

Although perhaps some part of the card is getting hot that the sensor isn't picking up on, even so I'm not quite convinced that investing is better cooling is justifiable..
