Graphic card not working

Few weeks ago something happend to my graphics card.
My ATI Radeon 4600 was hooked up to my TV over the HDMI port,
All of a sudden something exploded in my TV(it was a short circuit ) while my card was connected.
A day after i connected my PC to my monitor there was nothing but a black screen.I am not sure if the card is dead or something but there is no smell or anything,it looks as if nothing happend.

If my card is dead is it worth fixing it or do i need a new one

I have a ATI Radeon 4600

If that card is dead, I would consider buying a new one or a used one (Or whatever fits for you). That's strange, the card shouldn't get killed with the TV at all.

My PC is working normal, but the card is not.

Hmm strange, surely if the card had been burnt out by the short there would be visible charring/heat damage somewhere on it.

The card may have been damaged by the problem in the TV, and that damage may not even physically show up on the card as charring, or anything like that. It doesn't take much in terms of over voltage to kill a graphics card. A mere 12 volts through the video connector would be enough to do it, and you'd probably never see any evidence of physical damage, or smell anything burnt.

Electronics are very fragile. Most people don't realize just how fragile they are. It's why you should always wear an anti-static wrist strap when working on a computer. Even static electricity can kill one.

The card is probably toast, even though you can't see or smell any physical damage. It's not worth fixing. You'll have to buy a new one.
