MS Driver Update for nVidia Cards...

Last night, MS downloaded a driver update to this PC for the graphics card. The update specifically called out the nVidia 7300LE card that's installed. The writeup also stated that it was to correct the January Patch Tuesday updates. I thought it was strange that the update singled out my particular graphics card. I wonder if other W7 users that have nVidia cards installed might be getting similar updates since I see several posters here with display issues at boot up. Just thought I'd share my luck.

There should be no reason for a MS graphics update if you have the latest driver from invidia.

Well, Device Manager now shows a later date for the driver than the latest one I downloaded from nVidia last week. If the January MS updates broke the driver, why shouldn't they fix it? If it fixes the problem I've been hassling with for the last month, I don't care where the fix comes from.

Note that drivers from WU/MU are provided by vendors, Microsoft didn't write it. They use WU/MU to distribute it if there's a huge issue, though, as I believe this would qualify. Just for clarification on who wrote the driver (regardless of who signed it).

Yes, sort of, Device Manager shows version 8.18.13.0908, copyright by NVIDIA, and the digital signer is Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher.

I've gone out to find myself. If I return before I get back, have me wait for me.
