    NVidia card no longer detected despite working previously.


    I've had my graphics card for months, it worked without a hitch. Then my computer went without use, and stayed off, for 3 months. I turn it on and suddenly, my graphics card is no longer detected. I can't launch the Battle.net desktop app as it says I need to upgrade my drivers or get a new card. Tried updating my drivers through GeForce Experience, which has worked, and that says it can't detect anything either. I unplugged my PC, and opened it, everything is attached and nothing is cracked or broken. I'm absolutely clueless, I can't update my drivers, I can't detect a card. Does anyone have any idea? any help would be greatly appreciated.

    So Geforce Experience says you do not have a nvidia gpu installed? Have you tried re-seating the card (take it out and put it back in sometimes the pins get shifted around)?

    I would check the BIOS settings, see if it's set to use on-board video.

    If the CMOS battery croaked/hiccuped while 'OFF' duty you'd be reset to defaults, thus on-board video and doesn't know you have a video card, if that motherboard BIOS works that way (common).

I had to reinstall 7100 - don't ask! - and I had to force the system to think it was a 8400M as it got installed as Standard VGA card. The problem is that running nVidia new driver just gives 'compatible device not detected' type error. What is going on? Everything was fine before. Any ideas?
