    Dear torrentg
I have a nvidia geforce 8400m gs graphic card installed to my hp laptop and changing my OS to windows 7 ultimate x64 I have met the same problem as has been described by vaio77 and daviddo9988. I will not be able to thank you if you do a custom Inf for me too.
The information I found in device manager is as follows:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0427&SUBSYS_30CC103C&REV_A1
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0427&SUBSYS_30CC103C
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0427&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0427&CC_0300

    Thanks a billion!

    VGN-FZ21M - Windows 7 - GeForce 8400M GT

    Hey!

I have a serious problem - my laptop won't recognize my graphic card (only 'vga standard card') and on my screen are sometimes green linies or red squares - I've tried everything mentioned in this forum but it still won't work ...
    my system specs are:

    Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21M
    Windows 7 Professional 64bit
    nVidia GeForce 8400M GT GPU

    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9005104D

I tried the drivers from Nvidia: Version 301.42 WHQL
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 301.42WHQL

and Drivers from Sony Vaio for Vista
    Sony : VGN-FZ21M updates | Download updates for VGN-FZ21M

I also tried to use the altered versions from laptopvideo2go
Drivers | drivers for mobile cards and laptops | laptopvideo2go.com[]=win7x32&os[]=win7x64

    197.01
    190.40
    and 186.24

    all with altered INF files.

I'm able to install most of them but after an system restart windows stops while booting and
I've to restart in 'safe mode' and delete the newly installed drivers otherwise my laptop won't star.

hope you are able to help me I'm deeply desperate.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sophie

    Hi Sophie,

Here is the link to the driver that I have created myself for my laptop. It's the same Hardware as your's but being on the safe side be prepared for rebooting your laptop into safe mode one more time. lol ;-)

If the link did not work let me know. I will do somthing else to share this file with you.

    Hey Martyn,

I tried your driver but maybe I've done something wrong. First of all I didn't find a GeForce 8400M GT in the List - so I thought maybe is should try some of the others but I can't install them I allways get the error Message 'Your Windows Version is incompatible'.

    Do You have any advices?

    Regards
    Sophie

    ATTN torrentg

    Hi torrentg,

    I'm having the same trouble.

    Sony Vaio VGN-FZ34M
    Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
    Nvidia Geforce 8400M GT

I've downloaded the driver from the Nvidia website as you suggested, specifying any 8800, windows 7

However, the file which comes down is

    306.97-notebook-win8-win7-winvista-32bit-international-whql.exe

... presumably an update from your version.

It doesn't have an 'English' folder, just an 'International' folder. Neither can I see NV_DISP.inf anywhere, but rather lots of nvxx.inf files in a sub-folder /International/Display.Driver

It appears there is a file called ListDevices.txt, which points to a given nvxx.inf file, depending on the card defined by the Hardware Ids in the Device Manager. Mine are:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9005104D&REV_A1
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9005104D
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_0300

I altered ListDevices.txt to point to NV_DISP.inf, added NV_DISP.INF to the /Display.Drivers folder and edited NV_DISP.inf to include my Hardware Id. I am guessing I have to edit the Section pointers in NV_DISP.INF?

    Can you help?

    Thanks,
    Roger.
