could you make me a modded inf file like you did for those others?
The tutorial is clear, well-written and there's nothing confusing at all about it. If you follow along, it's nothing difficult.
Since you're x64, I don't have the inf handy. So you'll have to edit it yourself by adding the following lines.
This goes to the section where all the others are under x64, 6.1 -
%NVIDIA_DEV.0424.01% = Section009, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0424&SUBSYS_9016104D
This goes to the bottom [strings] section where all the others are.
NVIDIA_DEV.0424.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT"
Copy and paste them into the NV_DISP.inf and save. Then install as the tutorial says.
I am sorry I am such a pain, but I just downloaded it into the nvidia file like you said so its not in the program files.
I am sorry torrentG for being an idiot but im really not very computer savy. I tried to do what you said here but the update still cant find the right one when i modd the inf file. Whenever you get a chance could you mod it for me. I know im asking alot im just so fraustrated at this point please if you could help me and mod it for me I would be eternally grateful, if not thanks for all your help up to this point.
Just go to laptop2govideo.com and download the latest nvidia driver along with the mod inf file for your windows 7 version (64 or 32 bit) they work I did it on my Sony vgn sz650n with nvidia 8400m Gs. thanks Torrentg for all of your help
Hi Torrentg,
A quick question - I know you are busy helping UclaMac and others - thanks for your patience with us noobies! I have got everything working on my Sony Vaio with Windows 7, except for device manager showing standard pnp monitor. Is there a fix for this? Does it matter, for games and such?
Thanks
Ray
Torrentg,
Sorry, I meant to say, "Generic PnP Monitor."
Thanks,
Ray
