There's no deleting an .inf. I said "delete atikmdag.sys" from safe mode and then install, which you said worked for you...and then you messed it up by trying to install CCC....which still could have easily been fixed.

I'm I had your machine and card in my hands, I'd have Windows up with perfect 3d acceleration in as quick as it can install Windows and get me to desktop.

Yeah wish you were here ilol..
Sorry when typed my last post i was so tired i typed .inf by mistake instead of the .sys, was hoping you may have forgiven me for typing it.
But all the same I followed that process and I still got the bsod.
If there is a fic for the ccc could you pls explan.

Better yet, put it all in 1.2.3.4.5.6.7 step for me and send me your postal address and i'll send u coffee n donuts or a slab of your fav beer or a bottle of plonk, a lap dancer anything!
lol! Um no worries, I like to help. (I meant that post to say that there is nothing physically wrong with hardware. )

Tell me the condition of your system as is right now.

Is this correct? >>>> No driver installed in Windows normal mode. You try to install and reboot give bsod?

If so, I'll tell you exactly what to do.

Ok this is how it sits
    Win 7 installed
    installed trackball mouse
    installed zboard for wow
    installed avg
win 7 has installed generic driver for the x1200 ati on board mobo which i see in device manager and thats it.
i did notice i cant get digital cable to work on my lg204wt which is wierd, so back to analogue
aside from that a secondary hdd is in as well, holding all my win 7 downloads.
It was the very last hardware i installed so i had no boot from disk problems.
there is no ati folder, there is no c:\ati anything on my hdd, have not unpacked any installers.
i checked sy32/drivers and the atikmag.sys is there, obvisouly for the x1200 ati on board card.

and thats it, i wont go any further with win 7.

so work your magic for me mate

Alright. First thing is to completely uninstall AVG. I repaired (on here) a few assorted bsod and other issues with people running that.

Make sure monitor is plugged into 4650 card. Leave the LCD 40" and secondary monitor unplugged for now.

Go into bios and disable any onboard vga settings.

Reboot and try to install the driver package from ATI's website, carefully choosing Windows 7 for your installed Windows version - 32-bit or 64-bit.

Tell me how this goes. And good luck.

Hmm so avg could be a part of the problem, ok will do that.

plug 4650 card in no prob

there is no setting on the asus m2a-vm-hdmi to turn off the on board ati, only a preference which to boot first, the order is pcie, pci and the onboard ashdmi (or whatever its called, hard to think 3am here)

now to be certain here, the 'driver package' your referring to the driver package itself 'individual catalyst components' and not the full catalyst software suite?

win 7 will detect and install the card using its own ati 4650 radeon wwmd driver, so i am assuming just installing the driver package is no prob

my big concern as i have mentioned earlier is this .net framework 2.0 error. i'll give it a shot, but not now, have to catch a flight soon and i'm that tired i'll probably zot myself :)

will let you know in 6 days time when i get back, cheers..

You could install just the driver one itself. If it's good, save a system restore point and then try your luck with full package.

    well didnt work i'm afraid
no avg this time, made a restore point at this restore point i have my zboard and trackball installed only....

i will tell you this tho in my process..

    1. disabled the x1200 onboard in device manager
    2. shut down pc
    3. install ati 4650
    4. restart to win 7, it finds new hardware and installs it altho!
error on .net framework 2.0...reading the error it had nothing to do with my ati card but my zboard of
all things. I canceled it this time, previously i continued.
5.In device manager its says my adaptor is 4650 msoft wmmd
    6. i installed the ati driver package only, not the ccc
    7. restart pc with bsod
    8. so i go to sys32, del that atikmdag.sys
    9. open device manager, choose the card which now says 4600 series (not win7 4650)
    10. update software manually, have disk yadda yadda
    11. before i hit next it has 4600 series twice in the list, i just hit next, it wants to restart, i hit restart
    12.bsod, restart into safe mode
    13. this time i restore back to the point as mentioned above
    14. the restore puts me back into safe mode after restart and i get to watch the found new hardware at work
    the fnh installs

    a.usb hub
b.usb mass storgae - i left my thumby in for the mini dump
c.PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge
d.Ideazon Zboard usb h'man interface device
e.Ideazon Zboard MM USB h'man interface device
    f.high def audio controller
--all the above ready to use--
    g. ati hd radeon 4650 (M Corp WDDM 1.1) which prompts the restart

    so i restart

    BSOD wtf

here are the last 3 mini dumps

You have some old drivers on the system. Try uninstalling or deleting them, from safe mode if you have to. Or update them to latest so they're 2009 versions.

thats strange, i installed the new zboard win 7 pack from their dl/support page..

there has to be more to it then just the zboard making problems

Yeah, I dunno. Get them off the system though and I think bsod will stop happening. You can figure out about drivers for it/them later if no bsod happen.

I really don't think so, but very slight possibility. Only one way to find out.
