Hi,
If I connect two 1600x1200 external monitors via port replicator (I'm using Dell E6400), dwm.exe process starts to having huge amount of CPU Usage.
When I took out one of the monitors, it became normal. Are two 1600x1200 external monitors too much for the Intel GMA graphics or is there any way I can fix this? I'm using Windows 7 RC.

Would you please go into your user cp at the top of the page and fill in your system spec first offf?" That way everyone will know what kind of system your running >cpu>ram?video card>ect. This will help.I assume build 7100 rc 64 bit? And what driver are you using cause their has been reports of leakage on drivers with the 3d glasses included in the driver. Are both monitors reconized in device mngr and if so are the drivers loaded for them? Are you using Vga or DvI or like mine dvi to hdmi. All of these questions will hel[p find an answer. I have updated my user cp as much as I can. Dell/E6400, CPU P8400 2.26GHz, Ram 4.00GB, Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
I'm using build 7100 rc 64 bit as you said, and HP LP2065 monitor is connected with DVI, and HP 2035 monitor is connected with VGA. The laptop has LP2065 driver, but the other one was using Generic PnP monitor.

Forst off I would try and find a driver for the pnp monitor and then I would read this artical on drivers for your graphics card and 3d stereo scope and massive memory leakage, on how to disable it seems the drivers from 186.xx on up have sevr leakage causinfs massive xou usage. @thefabe Thanks. But I'm using Intel GMA, not NVIDIA though. I noticed that it is the system, and dxgmms1.sys which goes crazy, instead of dwm.exe.
Let me describe more information about the problem.
* It was actually not dwm, but dxgmms1.sys in system process which was causing the CPU usage problem. (I think it is direct X driver)
* It only happens when I connect two 1600x1200 LCD monitors to my laptop.
* When I turn off the other monitor, the CPU Usage immediately drops.

The Latitude E6400 has cooling issues and this is what is resposible for the high CPU usage - I have been having this issue for a few weeks now.
Basically the CPU/GPU are overheating, and the system throttles back the CPU to 800MHz and at that speed the system cannot keep up and the CPU appears maxed out at 100%.
If you turn the machine off of a bit, or reduce the load (running two monitors puts a lot of demand on the GPU) then the system cools down, and the CPUs speed back up again. See this thread on the Dell forums:

I took the base off my laptop, and removed the fan, and I found that the cooling grill was completely clogged with dust. Cleaning it out has made my system run fine again. It seems that on the larger versions of the E series, they have a seperate cooling fan for the GPU, so it almost appears to be a desgin flaw with the E6400.
