New Radeon Video Card Problems From Sr. Citizen, Please
Hello,
Sr. Citizen now, and not too sharp with this, so please bear with me a bit.
Running W7, the 64 bit version.
Fan on old video card conked out, and seems impossible to get it going again.
So, I purchased a new, cheap, video card from Amazon.
It's a Radeon HD 5450
Says, Sapphire, and also AMD on box.
Nothing is ever "simple," I guess.
They have a CD included in box with apparently the right Drivers.
a. On installation, it comes up with a bunch of error msgs saying it requires a Digital Signature,
which, apparently, these don't have ?
Hard to believe, but...?
What is going on here, do you think.
b. Question: if there was not video card at all installed in the PC, or it was not functioning, would the PC
still turn on in Safe-Mode, and have some level of graphics ?
c. When I turn the PC on now (with the card in place), it seems to open up in Safe Mode.
Much bigger icons, etc.
How would I know if in Safe Mode; I'm not sure.
d. The screen Resolution was set at the lowest.
If I boost it, it seems to turn a bit more normal looking, but all the icons seem
elongated in the horizontal. What is happening ?
Do you think the card, even with those Digital Signature msgs is actually working ?
Partially, not at all, etc. ?
I printed out the Log after my installation attempt, and it shows "Success" for the Final Status
for:
AMD Catalyst Install Manager
AMD Display Driver
HDMI Audio Driver
AMD Accelerated Video Transcoding
AMD Drag And Drop Transcoding
AMD Media Foundation Transcoding
Catalyst Control Center
No error msgs or any "non-success"
Are there some other settings, perhaps, that I need to adjust, or is the Digital Signature problem
preventing normal operation ?
In Device Mgr, it does show that yellow question mark icon for the card which I believe signifies that
it is Not working ? (also for some audio card/function ?)
I plead my ignorance (and old age) with this, and would be most grateful for any help, thoughts,
etc. Really not sure where to go from here with this.
Thank you very much. Appreciate the help,
Bob
