Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 only showing 126.5mb of Vram?

    Hello,

I have windows 7 installed on my pc with the video card as said above^

However I hear you have to have 128mb of vram for windows 7 aero, and the card has that but only 126.5 is in use?

Please I've spent several weeks trying to get this card to work with aero... What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

You can`t add dedicated ram to a video card, and the system adds memory to video but windows handles that. It is what it is. You need to buy a new card.

128 MB is what I think you mean MegaBytes, Mb is Megabits. 128 MB is nothing on a video card.

And if it`s an AGP card, it`s not even worth wasting your time.

But you can find a decent AGP card on Ebay and even Bestbuy might still sell them.

HD 4650s are great for AGPs, you might want to find it :)

    Oh okay

Do you know what other cards a dell optiplex gx270 tower can handle?

Also, it might have been windows 7 because I just installed windows xp and it works perfectly fine now

Any AGP Cards will handle that computer provided that the PSU can handle the card due to wattage

There are XP drivers for that card and that sorted out your problem.

Did you ever find Windows 7 drivers for it ?

There are no Windows 7 drivers for that card as Nvidia never released one. Any site or person saying otherwise is full of it. The last driver made for that card is this one for Vista,

NVIDIA DRIVERS ForceWare Release 95 WHQL

which should work in Windows 7.

Then again if the rest of the system is as old as that video card, XP would be the better way to go.
