    Display adapter driver

I have this laptop for three years now. My display adapter is AMD Radeon HD-6310M and the driver is 8.792.2.4000 (1/25/11). I have been told to update my driver as that an old driver might cause BSOD which I have had a couple of times lately. Nothing terrible, nothing lost, just the inconvenience of waiting for a reboot.

In my adapter properties there is an option to update the driver but there is also a warning that "if the device fails after updating driver, roll back to previously installed driver" There is a button to "roll back to previous driver".

I am 70 years old and no great mind. My questions:

    1. Should I update the driver?
    2. What actually happens if "the device fails after updating driver ....."? Would I still be able to see anything on my screen, e.g. the button to "roll back to previous driver"?
NOTE: Somewhere else - I don't remember where - it says "This device is working properly"

Incidentally, when the two crashes occurred I had Thunderbird, Windows Explorer, Libroffice Calc, and two tabs of Chrome open. I don't know if that is of any importance.

Any advice to this old geezer appreciated in advance.

Follow Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions and attach the resulting file to your next post, I'll take a look and see if the graphics driver was named in the BSODs.
