My motherboard is gigabyte ga-z97x-gaming 3 and it doesn't seem to detect my graphics card. If I plug my monitor in the graphics card I won't see anything, but if I plug it directly into the mother board I can see it. The graphics card is also from gigabye but I don't know its name. Do you have any idea on how to solve this ?

Hi do you have the 2 six pin power connection connected to the card?
Do you have integrated graphics disabled on the motherboard? That may be a reason that the system is not looking at your graphics card.

Your motherboard will not detect your graphics card if your on-board graphics are still enabled (as suggested by Mellon Head)
Also please check you have connected the 2x 6-pin power cables from the PSU to the graphics card (See diagram attached)
From the model number you gave, is your graphics card: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE ?
To set up your card correctly, follow these steps:
- Turn off PC
- Insert your graphics card into the PCI-E slot ensuring no dust is in the slot.
- Plug your monitor cable into the ONBOARD graphics slot.
- Turn on your computer
- Load into BIOS (F2 or DEL on start-up)
- Look for 'Onboard Graphics' or 'Integrated Graphics'
- Set it to 'Disabled'
- Save and Restart your PC
- Swap the cable to the new Graphics Card port
