Nvidia Control Panel Settings won't save ...

    Something weird just happened

The Nvidia Control Panel settings won't save . No matter what i do.I tried opening the Nvidia Control Panel .EXE file with Compatibility Mode.It won't save.

Then i tried checking the box saying , Run this program in Compatibility Mode with my OS.It won't save , still.

I do remember opening my Nvidia Gforce Experience this afternoon and it asked for the Game Ready Updates to install. It also asked for other Drivers to install. And i have not installed ANY updates from Nvidia Gforce Experience.

    Is this the reason

Or today , Google asked something about checking my system or something.I just clicked , i agree , and clicked , NEXT , NEXT and next...

    Could that be a reason

    OH MY GOD , Guys.....

I was so upset since yesterday night. And i went to this shop close to my home , thinking i am going to take my rig for fixing. Also , i thought that i am gonna give my RIG to the people who assembled it and was so sad due to this.

I wondered , why don't i accept the Gforce requests and just give it a try, since i have to take my pc anyway for fixing this Nvidia Control Panel issue. So, i just accepted the requests and installed a Gforce Game Ready install followed by a Gforce Driver Installation (which i did through a clean install as Sevenforums suggested me ) .

During the Driver installation via Gforce , something strange happened i.e when it said , uninstalling Nvidia Control Panel , my screen went blank for like 1 minute and then came back...

I was hesitant to try these updates , since i have seen stories of people saying their system crashed and similar..Anyways , next thing you know , i opened the Nvidia Control Panel and it is saving now :)

I am going to restart my computer just to make sure that everything is working fine...

Good you have it fixed. If you have problems again you may try this and install only the Graphics driver and PhysX. Those are all you need. NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

    Here is the thing.

I had no choice but to try whatever Gfroce Experience was offering.Actually , i bought this RIG on the 5th of February 2015.And i started getting Update Messages from Gforce Experience right after a week or so.I was not updating,i would see the message popping up every time i opened Gforce Experience but i didn't do it.

I didn't even updated the Game Ready drivers , since i had the opinion that updates like such usually screwed up people's system judging by the many forums that i used to read of Nvidia Drivers crashing and similar.Even though Seven forums said that i should go for it , as they are game updates..

So,when this problem happened that Nvidia Control panel wasn't saving my settings.I remember , opening Gforce Expeerience and after it asked me to update the Gforce Expeerience updates , i AS USUAL didn't do it.So,after i clicked close, the program quitted. And.And i thought , o well it's nothing.

Now,i realize that gforce experience PERHAPS did this & i was unable to save my settings in Nvidia Control Panel.Since, everything started working SOON AFTER i did all of my updates from Gforce Experience.

I didn't cared what the update messages were saying , i was just so upset cuz i knew i had to tak my RIG again for repair or something. So , you know..i said to myself,i am getting NO SOLUTIONS whatsoever form anywhere i.e Forums , you tube, etc...Cuz every solution/suggestion were suggesting about a big list of things to do..Like , deleting a number of files in Nvidia folder or like install this in safe mode...or like delete every Nvidia file in your computer or like do a fresh install of all the drivers , or like one user said that he had to do a lot of installations , deletions and fresh installations of so many programs etc. etc...

I decided , i am gonna try this Gforce Experience updates thingy , since i haven't done A SINGLE UPDATE yet..So,i did.And now, everything is back.In fact , i bet i am gonna see some FPS gains in some of my games now like Assassin's Creed Unity and may be more.Since, this update claims of fixing bugs and improving gaming performance (Which of course , time will tell ).

So,all i can say is sometimes it's OK to take risk. You all might laugh but i was making posts here at sevenforums about WEATHER I SHOULD DO THESE Gforce Updates of not And you know what,it was a good move , as Sevenforums explained me how to do a CLEAN INSTALL and it is so sweet. It took like may be 6 or 9 minutes for all of the Gforce Updating and new drivers Installation process.I was actually amazed by how far the advances have come when it comes to such technologies. Because i am an old user of Windows XP and remember how slow and technical it used to seem back then...

Now,uninstalling old drivers and installing new felt like a piece of cake , cuz of Gforce Experience i guess :) I mean , i was thinking , why didn't i do it before. It was so easy and perhaps (God Willing) will be promising too.

    Hi,
Yea depends on what your doing,
If you do game I suppose an updated utility is better than one that's not :)
I don't game on my other meager system so g force stuff is not needed just the display driver.

A lot of cards come with the software on it so people just install it and possibly don't even game
They might use it for graphic's editing programs only kind of like me on my other machine

delete all of the files under
    C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\Drs
this will remove your settings. try applying setting again
    this works for me
