    Screen Upgrade

    Morning all

I've treated my Dell D520 to a few upgrades recently ie 4gb RAM, N rated wireless card, 500gb hard drive Windows 7 Ultimate and a new CPU Intel T7600 and so far all is running sweet. I'm also waiting on a SSD too.

My question is I also bought a SXGA+ screen for it too to upgrade it from the XGA screen already in it.

When I plug it into the motherboard strange things happen lol as in it either comes on but then starts to go all misty then flashes or it just stays black. It came with it's invertor too.

    The motherboard has these specs.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you buy this SXGA+ screen? Are you positive it's compatible with the connector and the graphics card in the laptop?

Laptop screens aren't just interchangeable. They often have unique and proprietary connections that are only compatible with original equipment. OEMs do this to keep you buying their parts. Chances are that your new screen is not compatible with your laptop, and continuing to use it may damage other hardware inside the PC.

Hi, it was bought from a seller on eBay. I've taken off and replaced the original one to prevent any damage.

    Thanks for your reply.
