Nvidia 8400 gs problem or pcie problem.

Hi, i have a intel dq35jo motherboard with pcie slot x16.
I tried a nvidia 8400 gs card and monitor shows no signal.

Card work on another mob, but in this mob fan works and all works but shows no signal.
I reseated the bios and still not working.

In dq35jo i have a PSU 350W (Win 7. c2d e8400, 4gb ram, 80gb samsung and dvd rw) and in the other mob where the video card work i have 240W PSU and i have win XP with 2gb of ram and pentium 4 3.2 ghz and 80gb WD.

In bios says when video card is in pcie slot the onboard automated turned off. But in my case, video card shows nothing, black screen.

I searched on google 5 days and no answer ...
    Sorry for may bad english.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Could be the monitor is set to the wrong port
Onboard graphic's is usually a VGA port so the monitor might be set on that port,
If the card which I have not looked up uses a DVI port you might need to switch on the monitor usually with the monitors settings buttons.

    Hi,
    If this is the card
    EVGA 8 GeForce 8400 GS 01G-P3-1302-LR 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card - Newegg.com
There could be an issue with the pigtail on it,
See if switching to the DVI port does anything
You can also try the hdmi port too :/

    Hi,
512mg is probably the same as your onboard graphic's uses
Using that low of a gpu is I would imagine a net gain of zero :/

The only advantage would be if you were wanting to use dual monitors which it does not sound like you are doing ?

    Pretty weird :/
If you're sure it's seated all the way in try a dvi cable that's about the only test I know of
    Besides trying another card ?

Yep if it fails I would suspect a bad pci-e slot
