Will a GDDR2 video card work with DDR3 RAM? Is that it?

    Of course.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Now, the real question is... Why would you like a card with just GDDR2 having an i5 750.

The only relative new cards I can think of with GDDR2 RAM are the Radeon HD 4300 series / 4600 series. I'm sure there are others.

Assuming seeing that this is in the graphics card forum I would assume you are referring to the memory on the video card. If so then it makes no difference what is on a video card in relation to what is used by the motherboard, as the two have nothing to do with each other.

I would go for an Radeon HD 4670

XFX Radeon HD 4670 Video Card - 1GB GDDR2, PCI Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, Dual DVI, HDTV, HDMI Support at TigerDirect.com

Outperforms the GT 220 at roughly the same price.
