Which Of These 4 Graphics Cards Is The Best?

Which of these 4 Graphics Cards is the Best? Sapphire R9 290X 4GB TRI-X vs Sapphire R9 290 VAPOR-X 4GB vs Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4GB vs Gigabyte GTX 970 XTREME 4GB. Which of these 4 graphics card is the best for 1080p and 1440p? Which of these graphics cards is the most powerful enough to run The Witcher 3, Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, or GTA V at 1080p 60fps and 1440p above 30fps? Which of these graphics cards would you guys buy? BTW I want to upgrade my current graphics card the MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3GB.

I have an MSI GTX970 Gaming 4GB, and got far cry 4 for free when i bought it. i have no complaints, have graphics on high based on geforce experience which detects monitor and sets recommended game graphics settings. It averages just above 30 fps but that is on a benq 27" monitor at 2560x1440 60hz.
when I ran it on a 1920x1080 24" monitor i think all settings were on max graphics and i was always over 40 fps.
I believe you will get to 60fps easier with much higher settings for 1080 res. versus 1440.

PassMark Software - Video Card (GPU) Benchmarks - High End Video Cards

highest Radeon R9 score is 8324.
    lowest GTX970 score is 8664.

the gigabyte GV-N970XTREME-4GD having the highest core clock and highest boost clock is going to be the better of the nvidia cards. those radeon cards not sure if they're a generation old but having the core clock around 1000 mhz vs 1100mhz of the gtx, then the gtx has the boost, i don't see those radeon models being better than the gtx 970 gaming cards....
not unless you see reports from somewhere like guru3d where they tested your game and found that game to run better on a radeon card vs nvidia.

    Benchmark scores on gaming PCs

    GTX 970 - 8,663
    R9 290X - 7,083
    R9 290 - 6,842

    I'd get the 970 :)
It will run those games fine.

    Hi,
I'd usually compare the base and boost clocks of any card I was interested in with evga and asus offerings
Of course only GTX cards would be considered.

I would say the Extreme, with the G1 coming in at a very close 2nd.

The only difference I see is the clock speed, which is insignificant.

I think the Sapphire VAPOR-X R9 290 4GB is a huge upgrade from the MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3GB. Take a look at this video. The Sapphire Vapor X R9 290 4GB completely blows the R9 280X (7970) out the water. Now do you guys think the Sapphire Vapor X R9 290 4GB is a huge upgrade from the MSI R9 280X twin frozr 3gb? Is the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4GB a huge upgrade from the MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3GB? The Sapphire VAPOR-X R9 290 4GB and Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 4GB should be huge upgrades from R9 280X and should play higher frame rates at 1440p than R9 280X.

Sorry this is primarily a NVidia crowd
Aren't those newer Sapphire cards ?
Comparing them to later series NVidia cards would be silly

Ah but there is one ATI/AMD user hereabouts.

Yeah me too, I use both AMD & Nvidia and have a equal mixture of both in my 4 main machines. I have a GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0+ 4GB which is great and I also have a Gigabyte HD 7770 OC 1GB rev 2 Card. These are my most current cards. Don't believe all the hype.....
