Games keep crashing with new GPU installation.

    Hello!

During Christmas I received an EVGA 980Ti SC+, an upgrade from my GTX 760. I ran DDU and selected "Wipe then shutdown," then proceeded to install my graphics card. Everything ran smoothly, GeForce Experience ran fine and the drivers installed normally.

However, my games keep crashing with the installation of the new GPU. In Rust, for example, a game where the GPU is at 100% load all the time, the games crashes every 45 minutes or so.

In a game like TF2, an easy to run game that only takes up about 30% usage, crashes as well. Only a few times per day, however. My TF2 does this weird crash where the audio glitches out, the game stops rendering, my GPU resets, and it puts me back to my desktop. This crash has actually crashed my computer before. TF2 also gives me the conventional "hl2.exe has stopped working."

Any tips on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Remove everything nvidia related in Programs and Features.

Remove any nvidia folder in C program files (check both files)

Use Ccleaner to cleanup the registry.

Delete the nvidia driver you downloaded.

    Reboot the pc.

    Re Download nvidia driver 361.75

NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

Do a custom clean install of 361.75

do not install the 3d vision driver and software if you don`t need it.

    reboot the PC.

optimize your games with GeForce Experience (you may have to at least start the game if it won`t let you) or just rescan for games.

You should not have another problem with crashing.

And please, make sure you change windows to a basic theme, no aero, before you do any gaming.

For the "Remove everything nvidia related in Programs and Features," should I just run DDU and reboot?

You could call EVGA, has it been 90 days ? Tell them you want to return it for a full refund, no if and or buts. Tell them about your problem if you want, but I wouldn`t I would just say you are not happy.

I am totally surprised as my cards a phenomenal.

If your card is going to 100% load something`s wrong, contact EVGA, if you RMA it you will not get your card back, and may not get a brand new card, I would demand a refund, and get another brand new card.

    EVGA has excellent support.

As an experiment, turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome, it`s in Chromes settings and caused this exact problem for people, give that a try, game for a bit, post your reults.

Click Settings in Chrome, then scroll to the bottom and click Show Advanced Settings, then scroll down to System and uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration when Available."

I think I might call EVGA and ask for a full refund to buy another card. At the time I didn't really have the money to get a higher end 980Ti and I kinda just rushed to buy any one. I might go for the ASUS Strix or the Gigabyte G1 gaming, both brands have never let me down. This was my first EVGA purchase and I've never experienced graphical errors like this.

    Thank you again.

Okay, I'll definitely try that Chrome setting off. It's odd though, because my old 760 never crashed even with hardware accel on...

EVGA said an RMA was available but a full refund wasn't because I purchased it from Newegg, and their 30 day policy has expired. Fingers crossed that this fixes my issues...
