DX10 to DX11?
Hello
I am running XFX 285 in sli (GF GTX285, 648M ,1GB DDR3,DUAL DVI, TV PCI-E).
With DX10 support.
Is there any way to "upgrade" with a driver etc. so they are DX11+ compatible?
thanks!

As far as I know, it will not run DX11 since it is a DX10 card/
I don't know how to explain it, mostly because I don't know all of the details, but dx compatibility is hardware based and built into the card instead of something that is controlled by drivers. Try this thread and see post #8. GTX 285 - Can't enable DX11? - Deus Ex: Human Revolution Message Board for PC - GameFAQs
The short of it is that the card would have to be engineered to use dx11. Now the card would be able to play a dx11 game if it has dx10 backwards compatibility but you will have to get a dx11 card to get dx11.
Nope. That's just the way it is. Some cards were made support latest APIs because the APIs have features the GPU can handle. That GTX 285 could handle DX11 but I bet it wouldn't make sense because it'll be beaten by an HD 5970 already
At the time that card was designed dx10 was probably the newest out and later on M$ released dx11 as technology evolved. The cards also evolved. That's the nature of technology. What you buy today will eventually become outdated.
The 285 is bordering on ancient and gets quite hot, time for some new cards. Don`t know what gear you own but the 1070`s will be very affordable, and a 970 will serve you just as well.
The gear bought around 2009 or 2010 is ASUS Gene MB, with i7 920 D0 step on air OC'd with CPU vcore , DRAM timing etc all manually set in BIOS. Basically nothing on auto :)
The cards never overheat or crash, plays Crysis high settings , and any other games aren't near as demanding as Crysis , even to this day I don't think any are.
I would like one of the newer 1070 cards but I'm happy for now, just wish DX11+ was on these 285's
