Are you planning to crossfire the onboard GPU and the discrete? I wouldn't rely on it so much.

Something like these will do you better:
EVGA GeForce GTX 950 02G-P4-2957-KR 2GB SSC GAMING, Silent Cooling Gaming Graphics Card-Newegg.com

An APU is an AMD CPU with a GPU built into it. Same as the Intel offerings with integrated graphics. AMD has a technology where you can pair the APU's graphics capabilities with a limited set of compatible AMD GPU cards to have Crossfire performance. Crossfire with two discrete GPU cards works much better and offers more performance. The Crossfire concept is the same as SLI.

Marginal at best. You aren't going to get any good results out of an APU/GPU pair like you would using two GPUs and putting them in Crossfire or SLI.

The R7 240/250 are lower capability GPUs. They are ok for home theater use or basic computing, but if you want to do any gaming beyond Minecraft, you need something a lot more capable than those cards. A single R9 300 series Radeon card will give you an order of magnitude better performance than the 7850k + R7 240 you're wondering about.

    But hey, it's your money.
