Windows 7: PSU/GPU Whine and/or Squeal

Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64

Strange that you have the same problem twice, do you think it may be on the mother board maybe, are you able to test the card on another computer to rule out anything else causing the noise?

Vista Ultimate x64 SP2

I don't have another computer with a PCI-E slot. I would have to go to a friends house or something.

After 3 hours of the whine I am adjusting to it. It changes frequency quite rapidly when I open Crysis Warhead (during the opening titles and menu). It is very stable during gameplay though.

Hmmm... I guess I will just have to get used to it. I could take the cooler off and fiddle around for a bit but voiding my warranty isn't high on the 'Things to do' list.

Thanks anyway. Repped :)

apparently its got something to do with the... ''capacitor and transistor coil resination"

some transistors are louder than others, this does not mean the card or PSU is faulty, it just means the components make a little more noise in these units....

again, luck of the draw really....

If your really ballsy enough you could try the DIY fix.

Here's how UPDATED: Nvidia’s “deadly” flaw and how to fix it - no more squealing! Theo’s Bright Side Of IT

EDIT: A good way to reduce it is to turn V-Sync on in the Nvidia Control Panel. It is still there but much quieter, I can F@H without stabbing someone now.

Win7 (7600) Home Prem 64 bit

Since I started running Folding@Home, my GTX275 has started making noises, too.
Not so much a squeal or whine, more of an asthmatic wheezing, on and off, about once per second.
If I pause Folding, the noise stops immediately.
Considering the price of these cards, I'd be reluctant to keep running something which might flog it to a premature death.
Might cut down to 3 or 4 jobs per day, or give it a rest between tasks.

Update: Noise is coming from PSU, not GPU.
Sound is high-frequency - probably just normal switching-mode stuff going on.

LCD Screen Whine
Okay, so my LCD monitor has been whining when I first turn it on, but once I get a display from my computer, the whining stops. This has been happening maybe about half a month to a year after I bought it back when I was in high school. The monitor is still good and still awesome, however I do...

Graphics card squeal - is it normal with a GPU fan?
Is it true that fan-related squeals from graphics cards are normal? I have NVIDIA GeForce 9300, and it emits a low squealing noise that stops after around 5 minutes. It comes up randomly again and stops again after a matter of seconds. So far nothing has happened. It HAS a GPU fan, so I'd like to...

Coil Whine worrying me....
Hey! My Graphics card emits a squeaky noise that stops sometimes and then resumes some time afterwards. I have found it's a coil whine and that it's normal. Is this true. Have I anything to worry about? And will it cause my system to crash? Thanks! :D

Bad crash during sleep, high pitched squeal
My system components were perfectly stable under Vista, without a reset for days or weeks at a time. DxDiag.txt attached for components. But with Seven, I'll leave my system on (sometimes downloading) and in the middle of the night we'll be woken up by what sounds like a smoke detector. The PC...
