Bad video peformence when lot of hard disk activity

When I play 1080p video and there is lot of disk activity at the same time (virus database updates, someone copys something trough local network, DVD is burning...anyway - lot of hard disk activity) then the video shows very poor peformence - stops and starts for sec, then stops, slideshows and so on (allso with sound). When this happens the CPU is about 50-60% so CPU is not an issue. I allso set the media player priority to high in task manager - still bad peformence when hard drive activity is high.

    I have AMD CPU 3GHz, 3,5MB RAM, 1GB ATI Radeion HD4850

I DID NOT HAVE ANY SUCH ISSUE ON XP...whats the problem?

    Hi.

You aren't using a hardware decoder (aka hardware acceleration on the gpu.)

For HD video, use Media Player Classic Homecinema with the output set to EVR Custom Pres. **

Using this, watch how your cpu will stay under 15-20 percent while playing.

No, that did not help! It seems like reading video data from HDD priority is lower than other read/write tasks

Then visit ATI's website and update to the latest driver.

And also, visit your motherboard manufacturer's site for latest chipset drivers.
