NVIDIA Geforce GT 630M Driver Issues with Alienware M17x R2

Hi,

I have recently tried to upgrade my old graphics card in my Alienware M17x R2. However I cannot figure out the driver errors I am getting.

Currently the card shows as "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" and it has the following hardware ID's. GPU-Z shows this:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DE9&SUBSYS_043A1028&REV_A1
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DE9&SUBSYS_043A1028
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DE9&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DE9&CC_0300

I have tried modifying the "nvdmi.inf" such that these ID's are included however I have no success with the current driver 375.95 from the NVIDIA website.

I would love some insight into anything I am missing or other things I should consider.
Currently running the latest bios release from the manufacturer.

Cheers for any help.

You upgraded the graphics card in a laptop ? Hmmmm

Graphics drivers for a laptop are obtained from the laptop manufacturers website, and since you changed the graphics card that may be an issue.

ALIENWARE | Dell US

If you still get nowhere, email or call them, and explain what you did and see if they can help.

The latest nvidia driver is 376.09, but it still may not work.

NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

Laptops are not desktops and are very finicky when it comes to drivers, I`ve installed W7 on hundreds of laptops and always get the drivers from the manu. website

Especially Dell`s they are a real PITA
