Connect tv and monitor to pc

I wish to do this via HDMI So i can watch the tv through the pc I have a hdmi switch i used to use but i dont know if it will work for this as it was connected differently. The one i have is a TeckNet 3 Port HDMI Auto Switch Box plus Remote - 3x1 HUB (3 way input 1 output) 1080p Full HD HDMI Switcher.

UPDATE, i have just tried connecting just the monitor up how i wanted to without adding the tv, and it didnt work i must need a different kind of switch

i am trying to connect my tv to my computer to use it as my monitor cause my old one broke and i cant afford another one but my tv is vag and m,y computer is dvi so i bought and adapter and plugged it into the back of my computer and plugged the vga cable into it and then my tv but nothing happens...
