Monitor display issues

Periodically, when starting up my desk top, the display is reduced to the lower right 1/4 of the total display area and is positioned in the upper left hand corner of the monitor. I have not seen any instructions that would help me correct that. I usually just reboot but today it took about 6 tries before I had a full screen. Help please and thanks
