Not always, some just use the SS designation. I see this in Laptops all the time, but it may be different with desktops, they may always be Blue? I hate the SS designation because it is too small for me to see.

If they are named SS and colored black, it means it is still USB 3.0.

I don't need the manual; you do. It should explain which ports are which.

Okay you were right here, they are both 2.0 in front. Why they do this I have no idea, I thought I remembered they were both 3.0, but that must have been another computer. Also, why they can't label them all with the Blue Chip when they are 3.0 is beyond me? I have a few pc's that claim to be 3.0 and have the Tiny "SS" for the Port, but no Blue Chip?
Jack, this was answered here, the post right above where you asked this: "Do you have the manual for your Dell Inspiron 660s ?

    Jack"

So far, to me at least, it seems as though the Laptops are the ones that Black Chip with the "SS" Designation some of the time. But Desktops seem to adhere to the Blue Chip "Suggestion" all the time that I can see. I'll have to pay more attention to this in the future to see if I'm correct or not.
