Dual Monitor setup 2nd Monitor black screen

I've made this post before but I'm still having the same problem.

I've been using a second monitor for over a year and used it for streaming with OBS with no problems. I decided to record my gameplay instead and changed my OBS settings from Encoding: x264 to NvidiaVSENC for better quality. During that time I noticed every now and then my second monitor would quickly flicker black or just a strange color at least once a day. Not sure if it was a coincidence or because I made those OBS changes. A week or so later the second monitor just went black. Things I tried:
    -Unplugging everything
    -Reinstalling graphics drivers
    -Updating drivers
    -Reseating graphics card
    -Changing VGA cord
-Tried another monitor and it did the same thing??
-Also changed the OBS settings back to x264 and nothing happened
-Booting in safe mode but couldn't detect the second monitor. (It's detected normally, just black though)

The weird thing is when I haven't used the monitor for awhile and just have the power cord plugged in it will show "no signal" but when I connect it to the computer it will go black. Then even when I unplug it from the computer it will stay black and won't go back to the 'no signal' screen.
This was a little over a month ago and I gave up. Today I tried plugging the second monitor back in and it worked for about a minute then went black again. My main monitor works fine.

The monitor has a backlight and the power light is green. Second monitor is connected from VGA to DVI with an adapter. I also have a HDMI to display port cable I tried but same thing happens.

yeah the monitor just doesn't seem to want to work anymore. The weird thing is I tried another monitor and it did the same thing. Then I got a hold of a third monitor and it worked... I guess I just got unlucky and the two monitors I was trying went out around the same time? Really strange but I guess it's possible.

Is it possible my GPU made those monitors react that way? They were old monitors so I'm not surprised they died like that but more surprised at how they died around the same time.
