    Ghosting Lines On Monitor

My second and third pc's are identical in build and both share one monitor through a KVM switch. The problem I am now getting is 3 feint moving lines moving across the screen when both pc's are switched on. If PC 1 is selected on the switch, the feint lines are moving from left to right and if PC 2 is selected, the lines are moving from right to left.
I have tried connecting each pc at a time directly to the monitor and there are no lines on the screen and I have found that if I power off one pc whilst watching the lines on the monitor through the other pc, when the pc powers off, the lines disappear.
This to me points to the KVM switch being faulty but I didn't have this problem before renewing a graphics card in one pc. Before, I had an Asus GT730 installed in one and an Asus 8400GS in the other both connected by VGA cables and everything was okay. The 8400GS failed about a month ago so I bought another GT730 card as a replacement and I have had the problem since.
I have been in contact with the KVM technical support and they got me to try a few things which I had already done so they very kindly sent me a new KVM switch as it was just still in warranty.
I have now swapped over the KVM and the same problem exists.

Any help in being able to solve this issue would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

It sounds like the GT739 card you just bought is where the problem is. Try swapping the two video cards, to see if the problem goes to the other computer. If the problem stays with the same computer after you have swapped cards, then it is probably the video driver, a setting in Windows, or less likely, a hardware issue in the computer.

Also, try swapping the monitor video cables and the monitor power cables.

You've already swapped the KVM switch, so you have eliminated that as a possible cause.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried what you suggested swapping the cables over but I haven't swapped the two cards over, I will try over the weekend. Both pc's have the same problem apart from pc 1 lines moving from left to right and pc 2 from right to left. Are you saying if I swap the cards over, pc 1 will have right to left and vice versa for pc 2?
The NVidia driver both pc's have installed is 340.52, the latest being 385.28 but if I install any higher than the 340.52, both pc's can randomly show a black screen and then this error appears in the notification tray 'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered' I have tried some of the suggestions found by googling but haven't been able to resolve only by a clean install of the 340.52 driver.
I have an Asus GT730 ( the same as the other two) in my main pc which is running 8.1 and that has driver 361.43 installed from when I built the pc and this pc has never had the black screen and error message so I have kept it on that driver in fear of this happening if installing any later drivers.
Just to mention, my main pc is not connected through the KVM, it has it's own monitor on hdmi with no problems.
    Thanks again

    Yes.

As far as your other questions, try an older driver if you need to. You may get better results. Sometimes when they update a driver, they introduce bugs inadvertently. With HP printers, there have been times when an old driver worked better than the current driver, and I'm sure the same might apply here.

Also, if the problem is in Windows 8.1, you might try installing the Windows 7 driver. If the problem is in Windows 7, try looking for a Vista driver. In other words, try the driver from the previous version of Windows. (This solved yet another HP printer problem I was having.) It might work, or it might make things worse. But I would try that, if I couldn't find any other solution.
