Correct Radeon Legacy Driver on Win 7

    Hi all,

I'm not too familiar with ATI Cards, and i have a laptop (it is a Sandybridge Pavilion DV7 TX-Series) with something called a Whistler XT, by GPU-Z's identification. It also has integrated Intel Graphics cos the CPU is Intel not an AMD, so i guess it is a switch system. I'm guessing the ATI is not the newest/best card but also one that's not really old. I'm looking for the most appropriate driver for this card. but if possible, not accompanied by any platform or additional options interface like catalyst stuff from the past. Hoping someone with better knowledge on ATI cards can help.

From my initial search i have found the final legacy driver applicable, would be this :-
Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta
The downloaded file of this driver would be this :-
    non-whql-win8.1-win7-radeon-software-crimson-relive-16.2.1-sep20.exe

Could someone verify if this is the correct driver?

A second question is, what is radeon-software-adrenalin-minimalsetup? Is this a newer interface/driver engine and should I be installing this instead, or in addition to, the crimson driver above? is it purely add-ons or does it actually contain a driver?

I'm posting this on sevenforums not on AMD site because I am more concerned with the driver's correct integration with my version of customized Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, which is Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1). Also, by previous posting I value advice here more than that from any other tech site. I'm posting this under drivers not graphics because my issue concerns drivers, not an actual display/card issue.

I don't know enough about that card to say if the drivers are right but I would not install a beta driver. That could lead to stability issues.

Alright. I also have version 15.7.1, which is just before the beta driver and that one is WHQL certified. 15.7.1 falls under catalyst.

yeah sorry about the brief description on it. The Codename given is Whistler XT, the exact series/model could be Radeon HD 6730M/6770M. According to some online source it was the equiv. competitor to GeForce 500 series. it would not be considered to be in the top-range category, but would be placed on the top of the mid-range category. this card circa 2011.

What about Radeon Adrenalin? is that only for newer cards? should this be installed in lieu of the other driver packages or do i install it to compliment other radeon drivers?

seems like a hybrid ATI/Intel graphics setup on the laptop (I really hate these)

and yes radeon-software-adrenalin-minimalsetup is for recent AMD graphics cards only (ones that were certified Win10 compatible - ex. Radeon HD 7000/7000M & higher)
